A red wine with an intense colour, Humagne Rouge has a strong character, mixing flavours of wild fruits, undergrowth and violet. Full-bodied and distinctive, it can be enjoyed young with fruit, or after a few years of ageing. This wine goes perfectly with the taste of oak barrels having accompanied it for more than 12 months.
Obtained from a cross between Cornalin and an unknown grape variety, Humagne Rouge was imported from the Aosta Valley in the late nineteenth century. Popular with winemakers and wine-lovers, Humagne Rouge has forged a true Valais identity.
For more than 12 months, this wine is aged in oak barrels, which softens its tannins and gives it good ageing potential.
It is a delicious wine for game, red meats and strong cheeses.
